NORD step up to the challenge of the Waste Industry

The recycling industry has seen unprecedented growth in the last 20 years. Demand for new and innovative ways to recycle our waste has increased, there’s a move away from the traditional waste disposed to landfill because of the high costs and the environmental impact. The UK has seen the recycling rate for Waste from Households (WfH) has risen from just over 11% in 2000 to 44% in 2019.

Whilst new Materials Recycling Facilities (MRF), Energy Recovery Facilities (ERF), Anaerobic digestion (AD), along with glass, metal and wood recycling centres are being built, many older sites have had to cope with an increase in demand with older machinery.

The conveying equipment used in typical MRF facilities are housed in challenging environments. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter, dusty and dirty. The demands on the conveyor drive are critical, any outage could cost the customer £’s in lost production!

NORD work with the recycling industry to mitigate the possibility of lost production. Understanding the demands of the environment is critical to ensuring the performance of the drive. A number of sites throughout the UK have been interested to understand how NORD can support them by either reducing downtime, increasing performance or upgrading efficiency.
